Light brings rhythm to all that exists, creating order and flow in every pulse, illuminating the path forward. Every action, every movement follows a rhythm, weaving together an unseen structure that holds everything in place COMOTION 2025 will center around the theme of rhythm, aiming to showcase the unseen structures that shape our daily lives. It will highlight the beauty of everyday order and the inherent rhythms that govern our world, revealing the harmony and patterns that often go unnoticed in the flow of life.

Concept DevelopmentMy partner PJ and I share a similar interest in themes drawn from the everyday. At the very beginning of the project, we each collected a wide range of visual materials—such as intriguing road signs spotted in the streets, diagrams found in books, and captivating images from the internet. This process helped us align our individual perspectives and identify shared points of interest. As we brought our findings together, we discovered naturally overlapping and resonant themes. Through ongoing discussions and rounds of brainstorming, we ultimately arrived at “rhythm” as the central concept of our project.

Our continuous free writing and word explorations around “rhythm” also helped us form a clearer and more focused understanding of the concept itself.

Sketches & Visual Exploration To embody the essence of rhythm, we explored freeform sketching and spontaneous doodling—experimenting with structural frameworks that balanced clarity and movement. Our goal was to create a refined composition with full of rhythmic energy .As the layout began to take shape, we introduced key conceptual elements into the framework, carefully arranging them to achieve visual harmony while sustaining the pulse and flow at the heart of our vision.

Logo DevelopmentThe development of the logo was a particularly challenging and demanding process for us. It extended from the middle of our styleframe design phase all the way to the day before the final presentation, involving countless rounds of refinement and adjustment. Our goal was to distill the concept of rhythm into a single, flowing mark—one that visually captures a sense of movement and cadence.

We prioritized:
  1.    Fluidity & Motion – Using curved geometries and balanced asymmetry to imply a natural, organic flow.
  2. Structural Uniqueness – Crafting a distinctive form that remains memorable yet adaptable.
  3. Clean Execution – Ensuring clarity and scalability across all applications.

The logo went through multiple iterations. In the later stages of styleframe development, we drew inspiration from the curved geometries already present in our frames, which ultimately informed the formation of the final logo.

Color Scheme & Type ChoiceColor played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall visual experience of the project. Our goal was to develop a palette that not only supported the title sequence but also functioned as a flexible and cohesive brand identity. We explored a wide range of color combinations, aiming to strike a balance between calmness and energy.

For typography, we chose Ninna for its elegant yet structured feel, reflecting the balance of rhythm. Riviera Nights served as a clean, legible secondary typeface that supports the motion-focused aesthetic

Grateful for the Journey

Huge thanks to all-in PJ and myself—this really was an epic journey. This collab pushed us to grow in every possible creative way. We also learned how to face failure, and that life just moves on.

My love goes out to all the friends who inspired, encouraged, and supported us along the way. And of course, my baby son—Sharpay—a kitty I rescued on the street the day before we started preparing our pitch. It still feels surreal, but I’m so grateful this journey brought me not just growth, but also family.
